Please treat the image as reference only. Actual bank note may have a different serial #, signature, year or prefix.
Specimen banknotes are sample versions of real banknotes, produced primarily for educational, testing, and display purposes. They are not legal tender and cannot be used for transactions.
Key characteristics
- Marked as “SPECIMEN”: Typically, the word “SPECIMEN” is overprinted or punched (perfin) onto the banknote in a prominent manner, often in large, red letters, to clearly differentiate them from genuine currency.
- Special serial numbers: Many specimen notes have unique or readily identifiable serial numbers, such as “99999999999” or “00000000000”, according to Wikipedia.
- Limited production: Unlike regular banknotes, specimens are produced in smaller quantities, which often makes them valuable to collectors.
